Two words. Peppermint Tea
I'm somewhat new to the diet (3 months on it) and yes, cheating definitely brings all the symptoms back. I've been stable for 2.5 months, but when I do cheat, I have a D attack within 24 hours. I don't cheat often though, its not worth it. But sometimes, like a few weeks ago, my whole family was sitting around eating a box of hoho's,, and I couldn't resist. After eating a soluble fiber foundation, I caved in and ate one. I got sick an hour later. So, unless you have been stable for a loooonnnnng time, DO NOT cheat AT ALL. And even if you have been stable, I still do not recommend cheating.
Snacks are important,,, never let your stomach be empty if you can help it. Snack on soluble fiber all day long. Crackers, bananas, pretzels, are some of the easiest snacks. Check the index for some good snack ideas too, and do a search on the Recipe Exchange.
Small, frequent meals are key. Don't eat too much at one sitting, but don't starve yourself either. I literally eat every hour, I have about 5 or 6 small meals, and snacks the rest of the day.
Supplements. Calcium, Soluble Fiber, Digestive Enzymes, MultiVitamins, are just a few. You can do a search on that too. If you are prone to C, search for "IBS-C and supplements survey", if you are D, the search is the same, just change "C" to "D". I would do the search for you and post the link but I don't have much time, sorry. Maybe someone else can post the links for you.
I have more but I have to go right now. Good luck, take care, and God bless.
