The only brand of plain I've been able to find is Whole Soy. As for a sub, I think applesauce or another fruit puree would be your best bet. They're both used as fat replacers.

Thank you for your helpful respose. The recipe I liked was: Chocolate Cheesecake Brownies from the Feb 12 2003 newsletter. http://www.helpforibs.com/news/newsletter/valentines021103.html
"The creamy cheesecake filling is the best surprise of all - it's made with silken tofu and soy yogurt! The secret is to drain these ingredients for a day or two so they thicken up, which gives the filling the rich texture and tang of pure cream cheese - but without the fat and dairy triggers." Any suggestions?

Speaking of soy yogurt, anyone know how many days past the expiration date is it still good? I know it's a week for dairy yogurt but no idea about soy. Thanks.

Hmm... that's a really tough one. Applesauce definitely wouldn't work in that case. Maybe you could order soy yogurt online, or have a local store order it for you? I don't know of anything else that would work right in that particular recipe. There's soy cream cheese, but that would make it way too high in fat.

I use it a week or two beyond its date, just as long as it looks decent and isn't too gross-looking, lol. Soy yogurt does seem to naturally separate a lot more than dairy yogurt does, so don't worry about that. As long as it's not chunky and curdled I use it.

I like Wildwood brand in Pleasantly Plain or Pleasingly Plain, can't really remember. It tastes the most like dairy yogurt, in my opinion. I get it at Whole Foods.
