I have just made my very first loaf of bread in my breadmaker, and now I am anxious to experiment! I would really enjoy an French Onion Loaf if anyone has a recipe. I was considering using a french onion soup mix with the traditional white recipe I have...but how much should I add? Help for a newbie please...and thank you in advance.

by the way, by french onion I mean like the onion kaiser rolls you can get at the grocery stores...thanks

I most often experiment with the bread machine recipes on fatfree.com - there's a LOT of them - there's also a few on the recipe index.
I'm not so sure about the onion bread, though... hopefully someone else will pop in with more input on that one. I don't see why adding onion soup mix *wouldn't* work, so I think it's a great idea, I've just never tried it to know how much to use.

thanks for the info...I am jumping over to that site now...I did try the onion soup mix (combined with italian bread crumbs) for a coating on chicken...found it a little salty....maybe if I try it in the bread I will leave out/reduce the origianl salt measurement.....the chicken otherwise was fantastic and I do recommend it!
