Hello -

Restaurants often use far more fat than home cooks, and fat is a huge IBS trigger. But you can help lower that risk. When you're ordering restaurant food, choose menu items that are:

steamed
poached
seared
sauteed
light
stir fried
baked
roasted
low fat

Ask that the kitchen uses minimal oil no matter how things are cooked, and get any sauce on the side. Your goal is to lower that restaurant fat level!

Find more help in the restaurant section of Eating for IBS.

You are not alone!
