Hello -

The risk of developing inflammatory bowel disease was 30% higher in people with migraines than in those without, according to a new study based on more than 10 million adults.

It's been well documented that migraines are more common in IBD patients than the general population, but this is the first study to look at the potential involvement of migraines on the subsequent diagnosis of the gastrointestinal disease.

One takeaway from the research was the need for understanding more about the connections between multiple disorders and their potential common root causes. Gastroenterologists should be asking patients about non-GI symptoms, and neurologists should be asking about GI symptoms, joint symptoms, etc. This would immediately provide better patient care.

And more about IBD vs IBS.

You are not alone!
