Hello -

We all know it's an annual tradition to stuff yourself like the Thanksgiving turkey. But too much of any food at one sitting is a bad idea for IBS.

Help keep your digestion stable by keeping your meal size reasonable. And then take a breather, wait a while before having seconds.

To help prevent overeating in the first place, have a generous and safe breakfast of a soluble fiber staple - think cream of rice cereal, corn or rice chex, instant oatmeal.

Use your Tummy Fiber as an extra safety net today. Divide your total daily dose in two and make sure you have one dose before breakfast and another before dinner.

If you've been using fiber for a while and have a well established dose you can even bump that up a little. If you're under 2T per day, try adding an extra 1/2 tsp today. If you're over 2T per day, add an extra teaspoon.

That will give your gut extra stability. That's exactly what soluble fiber does, it keeps bowel motility rhythmic and regular. Take advantage of that - give your gut a little extra when you know you'll be stressing it.

At dinner, take your time, take just a little of everything and enjoy every bite.

After the meal, go for a leisurely walk instead of crashing on the sofa. That will help keep your digestion on track. Your entire gut is smooth muscle tissue. Staying gently active doesn't just work your arms and legs, it keeps your gut function limber as well.

Have a wonderful holiday week!

And more Thanksgiving tips (plus recipes) to come...

You are not alone.
