Did you bake it too long? At too high temperature? You didn't substitute anything, did you? Heather's got it figured out just right; I wouldn't sub anything. However, I do have one tip; BE SURE TO SIFT THE DRY INGREDIENTS FIRST! I skipped that part because I'm lazy. And I sure paid the price for it! I could actually taste the baking powder/soda in parts of the bread. EW. It's a great recipe; just keep at it, and check your oven temp. Good luck.
