My rice cooker has a place of honour in my kitchen. I make a batch at least once a week and buy rice in a 20lb bag (seriously!). I've had mine for over 5 years and it's still going strong. Just make sure you clean it really well every time so that no starch sticky is left on the bottom. Otherwise, it will burn and stick permanently. Seriously - for an IBS person, a rice cooker is a staple and a Godsend. Cold rice in the fridge keeps for a week and can be thrown into any casserole etc. or heated up or made into so many things in a hurry. It's convenient and safe to eat. I should mention that my Husband is half Filipino and in their family, "No meal is complete without rice." Needless to say, I fit right in.
