I'm not sure how much a stone and a half is, but I lost 3 pounds last week just from watching my calories. I've been checking my weight on Sundays, so I don't know how much (if any) I've lost this past week yet. I found a program for my palm that lets me put in all these things (age, weight,if you want to lose/gain/maintain, goal weight, etc.) and then it tells me how many calories I can have per day. If I exercise, I get more calories I can eat for the day. I just enter everything in like a food journal, and it tracks everything for me.

The one about fitday.com I think is similar to the program I have on my palm (Diet Tracker), but it's free. Mine had a trial for a few days, and I REALLY liked it, so I paid the $9. I like the convience of carrying it around with me.
