Quaker instant oatmeal, the cinnamon & spice is definitely milk-free. If you see a U or a K on any food by itself or with a P, Pareve, or Parve written on it...it is safe. If you see a U or a K with D or Dairy next to it, then it contains dairy. Now the trick is a food that has U or K with D.E. next to it...it means dairy free. So most of the Quaker Instant Oatmeals do contain dairy, but I'm still buying the Cinnamon & Spice which is dairy free. I've been studying labels for almost 5 years now...have 2 boys highly allergic to milk. Hope this helps. Also, if there is no U or K, then read the directions carefully...there are many hidden words for milk (including natural flavors). There are milk proteins also found in some ingredients. I usually don't buy something without the U or K on it unless I call the company and get the scoop. Sometimes it's made on the same line as milk products. I hope this wasn't too confusing...if so, I'll try to clarify.
