I can't really answer your question but offer my thoughts. In the Eating for IBS book it says "cooked tomatoes have a very high acidity level, which can cause GI distress, so they must be eaten with care. Incorporate them into a meal with a high soluble fiber content and don't eat them on an empty stomach."
So if your having some bread (your grilled cheese) it should be O.K. However, whenever I try to eat pasta with tomato sauce I regret it and am not sure if it's the tomato sauce or the wheat from the pasta (or both) that's a trigger.
I am so confused about eating wheat as HelpforIBS recommends it as a stabilizer while there are so many IBS sufferers who won't touch it and feel they are better off.
