If you use oil instead of butter, you would use 7/8ths as much so it's not oily. Since that's a little hard to figure out, I just use slightly less.

If the recipe calls for more than a tiny bit of butter, I would use half oil/half applesauce or half oil/half milk substitute of choice, depending on the recipe.
