As said in the Milk Free Kitchen- "Highly processed milk product. They are used as fillers to improve flavor or texture, or to prolong the shelf life of foods. Along with,
Calcium or any other lactate
Casein
Lactalbumen
Lactic acid
lactoglobulin
lactose
sodium or any other sort of caseinate.

I usually stay away form it because it comes form milk and I'm VERY VERY sensitive.
