Re: Diverticulitis and IBS are they the same?????????       03/16/03 01:16 PM Edit Reply Quote britsarah Reged: 02/16/03 Posts: 253 Loc: United Kingdom I think diverticulosis is an inflammation or little pouches in the colon, whereas ibs is a 'functional' disease that is diagnosed by excluding other illnesses; your system looks ok so it is how it works rather than if there is any physical reason for it not to work.
