Miso is a fermented soybean paste that comes in different varieties. It is in the refrigerated section of natural foods in a canister like yogurt. It is thick, salty and sometimes sweet and is a flavoring used in Japanese cooking and especially in miso soup. The flavors can be interchanged somewhat since usually stores have maybe white and red or whatever but not all the varieties.
Miso is healthy and IBS safe.

"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
