hi I'll try to answer your questions as best I can...

the lentils I use are ones that you don't need to soak for hours. I don't use a special brand I just read the label and look for no need to soak cos well I'm impatient basically and can't be bothered to let them soak lol so yep the cup full is unsoaked, uncooked, just plain out the packet.

What I make with an average squash gives you about 8 bowls (I think!!) I think your best bet is just to go for a time when you're not under any pressure to feed people and just make a batch up and see what you get, then you can see the size of squash you use and how much you get from this.

I use about a tablespoon of oil, as little as I can get away with basically without the food sticking to the bottom so start with maybe a dessert spoon but if you need more to stop the squash going burnt then add a wee bit more.

lol about the cutting a squash! and the answer is I really don't know, I ask my dad to do it lol you have to be so careful though those things can cause serious damage they're so hard to cut lol
