I have never been able to eat spaghetti without having an attack afterwards. In fact, once, WHILE STILL EATING the spaghetti, an attack came on me, one of the worst I've ever had. And I had made the sauce myself, so it was totally safe, free of pork and beef. (Yeah, I'm a real bore at an Italian restaurant, always having to ask the chef, "Is there pork in your sauce?")
I discovered that the issue -- with me at least -- is the quantity. I don't know how to eat a small serving of spaghetti. Any large meal brings on an attack. I just don't eat spaghetti anymore.
Yes, ground turkey meat is fine for your sauce, and yes, most bottled sauces work fine too; just make sure it doesn't have dead cow in it. Actually, get some sweet ITALIAN turkey sausage (the "sweet" is actually just "mild", as opposed to hot and spicy), remove and discard the casings (they're pork); chop up the sausage and brown it as you would plain ground turkey. The ITALIAN sausage has TONS of flavor and really adds a lot to the sauce.
Also, if you like parmesan on top, be sure to buy SOY parmesan. It's a little hard to find; I have to go across town to the health food store to get it, but it's well worth it.
Don't forget the garlic bread!
