I have one of the earlier versions, just the very small one with no adjustable heat levels and no removeable plates. It's SUCH a pain to clean -- I always feel like no matter how much I wipe it out, it's not sanitary. So, I used one long piece of foil and covered it top to bottom, and funnelled it into the fat catcher tray thingie. I made turkey burgers. I think it might have taken a little while longer to cook, but it worked great and there was no mess. Also, I sprayed the foil with Pam.
