I just finished getting this into the crockpot, and I'm dying to serve it at my dinner party tonight. Ooooh, BABY!


Peel of half orange
6 inches broken cinnamin stocks + more for serving
1 inch peeled and sliced ginger
3 whole alspice
3 whole cloves
8 cups apple cider
1 cup apple brandy (optional)
1/4 cup honey

Tie up orange peel, cinnamon sticks, ginger, allspice and cloves in an 8-inch square of 100% cotton cheesecloth.

Combine apple cider, apple brandy (if desired), and honey in a 3-1/2 - 5 quart crock pot. Add spice bag. Cover and cook on how heat setting for 5-6 hours .

Remove and discard spice bag. Ladle cider into mugs; add whole cinnamon sticks.

Makes 8 eight-ounce servings if you didn't use apple brandy; 9 if you did.
