Angel food cake pan question

I just bought one. (I figured I might as well make angelfood cake from a mix instead of buying readymade all the time.) Anyway, why is the pan in 2 pieces? (It's a Wilton non-stick pan I got at Bed, Bath & Beyond) How does the batter not leak out and how does one move it from the counter to the oven without incident? I'm confused!
