I'm going to try them again sometime this week ... and there is a lot that I will try differently! I probably did overbake them - usually when there is a minimum time for something, I'll set the timer and forget about them 'til it goes off. And I think maybe I waited too long between putting the boiling water in and adding the eggs and such. I'll have to prepare better next time. I'm going to head to the store and pick up some new cocoa and baking soda. I really hope they work 'cause I'm SOOOO craving brownies! Again, thanks everyone for your advice!
