It's an incredible climber and thrives in hot weather. It's absolutely GORGEOUS, with bright red blossoms, and would look fabulous framing your back porch. Only problem is its sharp thorns. I'll take a rain-check for that Jack under your magnolia, thank you very much. 100 degrees with humidity? I'd die. Right now, I'm sitting here with the doors and windows open; it's 69 in the shade with a slight breeze -- perfect! Stay cool.
