Today has been a great day (despite my aching back; I can barely climb in and out of the car). We drove down to the title company, gave them a cashier's check for the full amount of the house, and signed off on the papers. The escrow officer was so much fun, we laughed together, and I've never felt so good about releasing all my money! She said another Bev in her office also lives in Sudden Valley, where we've moving, and ALSO has IBS! I gave her this website and invited her to join us, and told her about Heather's books. Hopefully we'll see her pretty face here sometime soon.
Then we went to the new house. It's really looking nice, guys! The landscapers were there, putting in big rocks, my beloved ferns and some bark. The builder was there, finishing up in the kitchen, and the painter was there, finishing the painting. He thanked me for all my compliments (I had left notes all around), stating that no one ever does that, and it's so encouraging for him -- he made me feel real good. The carpeting is so lush; I took off my sandles and sunk my toes into it. The toilets had just been installed, so I delivered some toilet paper, hand soap, paper towels, and trash basket. I mean, come on, guys, we're not ANIMALS, are we?!
Then we drove down to the water and walked along the shore with the puppy dog, sniffing at everything. It was a happy time. Hubby hugged me and we wished each other years of happiness together in what we have now named "The Farm."
We came back to the condo, where our brand new realtor has listed it on the market (are you ready for this?) for $30K more than what we were expecting to get! She expects it to sell very fast.
Then we walked over to the golf course clubhouse, where we were seated outside and partook of -- you guessed it -- a little bitta Jack! Then I had a chicken Caesar salad. (Yes, guys, I had the Equalactin and a slice of bread beforehand.) We toasted each other; it was very appropriate because we sat at the same table outside and celebrated with Jack the very day we sold the float home in Canada.
So now we just wait for the final closing to occur on Friday, and then it's U-Haul time! We figure it'll take about 2 weeks to get in; the movers move us out of the second storage facility on the 10th, and then we'll move out of the condo shortly after that.
I'll be online until then.
