It is so much easier to get up to a job you love instead of going to a job for money. It's easier said than done. Everyone always gets so tied up in the money and forget to make themselves happy. Maybe you could start writing short stories as a hobby and send them to your paper etc. Slowly you could do more and more writing and then switch careers. Maybe that would make you feel better about writing and not having to "risk" anything.
