Soup Beans       07/12/04 10:08 AM Edit Reply Quote Bevvy Reged: 11/04/03 Posts: 5918 Loc: Northwest Washington State Soup beans are actually a combination of about 5 or 6 different beans, packaged together and labeled "soup beans." I think the main bean is navy bean, but I believe lentils are included. While my grandmother used a beef knuckle bone to make stock for the soup, frankly I think my chicken stock is better -- and totally fat-free. Back in my grandmother's days fat was of no concern. She also used salt pork for her baked beans. I hated them. Now bacon, well that's another story!
