Actually i dont have the book.Looks like i need to think about getting it soon.As for the surgery,i didnt have a choice,it was an emergency surgery.Long story but i was feeling horrible that whole summer and dr's just blew me off,until i went in with abdominal pain and was very sick.They found an abcess from a ruptured diverticuli pouch that had formed a fistula(path or trail)to my right fallopian tube and ovary.I lost 2 feet of large intestine,my right tube and ovary.I thank god i didnt end up with a colostomy bag or dead! Wasnt until after surgery they told me how serious the situation was and how lucky i was.I have had surgeries before,c-sections and gall bladder,but the colon surgery was the WORST! It was horrible,i wouldnt wish it on anyone.How do you know when you are having a diverticulosis attack and not an IBS attack? To me the pains seem so simular,of course since the surgery im not nearly in as much pain as i used to be.I can sympathize with you Bev,diverticulitus is some BAD pain!!!!
