Hey Bev,
Sorry, I actually wasn't looking for how it works, just some advice on whether it seems like it may or may not be a good idea.
Sometimes in Canada you have to go through the government, but my employer actually has it's own plan that's part of my benefits. Basically, my doc just has to say it's warrnanted and I can go on leave.
My bosses' thinking was that although I'm obviously not totelly disabled, I have missed a lot of days and am not getting any better (and my immune system is so out of whack I keep picking up other bugs)...so maybe I would get better quicker if I didn't need to work. Take the time, try and get stable, try different medications, see differnet doctors (still trying to get an answer on the gallbladder issue) and then maybe get totally straightened out.
I'm just not sure what to do, I think it might be good for me, but part of me worries about what would happen if I took the leave and STILL didn't improve at all. Basically, they wouldn't be happy if I took the leave, came back a few months later, and was still needed weekly sick days.
