I'd recommend Effexor for anyone with IBS-D!       06/22/04 10:56 AM Edit Reply Quote Nugget Reged: 02/10/03 Posts: 2167 I've been on Effexor now for a little over two weeks and I haven't had to use Imodium for a week! Have actually been having normal BMs every day....even had one day where I didn't go at all! (sorry for the gross details). One of the side effects of Effexor is C....for someone like me who is IBS-D, it's great! I can actually leave the house and not worry about having a bathroom near by. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this continues. My moods and anxiety have really improved. Last night my husband said he wasn't sure how to act around me yet because I was so different......not letting things "piss me off" so much. I told him that I don't want anyone to treat me any different ("walk on eggshells") just because I am on medication like this....it's just a chemical imbalance and it's no different that taking insulin if I were diabetic. It seems that once people find out you are on medication for anxiety/depression...they treat you different. I don't want that. I'm the same person...just a happier and healthier one. Ya know!
