Found it. From the FM Network newsletter, April 2004. It's the one by Kristin Thorson that I mentioned earlier.
It says that 5-10% of Caucasians do not effectively metabolize drugs that require liver enzyme 2D6. Common drugs in this class include tricyclic antidepressants and codeine. This can lead to serious adverse effects. Perhaps you're in that 5-10%? It doesn't say what the effects would be, but I assume it would be the usual ones just much worse. My migraine book author calls them the "four horsemen of the apocalypse, constipation, dry mouth, weight gain and sedation." But that would mean you should be SUPER sedated and it doesn't sound like you are. Maybe the dose isn't high enough yet?? I have no idea, I'm not a doctor, I just play one on TV!
Sonata and Ambien are both supposed to be excellent so sounds like the logical next step. Just to double check, you ARE using an eyeshade, aren't you? It really helps.
