I only like true stories or classics. I figure it's a waste of my time reading anything that didn't really happen, unless it's a classic and has a moral to teach me. I'm also hard to please; if the author doesn't grab my attention in the very beginning, I'm gonna fall asleep and never "get into it." My favorite author is Ann Rule. She writes true murder stories. She actually used to work with Ted Bundy, in the same office, sitting in the next chair. They were good friends. She wrote "The Stranger Beside Me." She also wrote "Small Sacrifices," an incredible true story about Diane Downs, who tried to murder her own children because her boyfriend didn't want children and she wanted to be with him more. Amazing stuff. Ann Rule writes so well, she keeps you totally spell-bound throughout the entire book, to the very end, where she finally analyzes the psychological reasons for why the murderer did it. I also read anything I can get my hands on about the holacaust, especially survivors' stories. A really great one I just finished is "Lest We Forget." Do you like something a little lighter? Maybe something with a little sarcasm? How about Kurt Vonugut's "Breakfast of Champions"? I loved that; I read it three times. It's hilarious -- and it's a classic! Enjoy!
