Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | I wanted to officially introduce myself

Ok, I was thinking today about how much I've been posting and asking questions around these boards lately, so I thought it would be appropriate to officialy introduce myself. First, let me just say thanks to all the wonderful people who have helped by answering my questions and to everyone who participates on these boards...it's been a god-send! And to Heather, I'm so happy I found this site and your books...I'm finally feeling hopeful again.
So, a little about me. Basically, I've had stomach problems my whole life, my parents said I was a very fussy baby whose tummy was always upset. Got worse when I was about 15, when my doc said it was IBS. Finally got to see a GI guy, buy he only did a sigmoidoscopy and didn't find anything, and because of my age didn't feel any further tests were necessary so he went wiht a diagnosis of IBS and a recommendation to "Take Metamucil" (which I know a lot of other people here have heard).
About a year later I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis, so I have to take a lot of painkillers and have a lot of problems with that. I would say for a few years my IBS (or whatever it is) was fairly under control, however that may have been because I wasn't eating much. I went through a severe battle with depression where I was hardly eating...however at least my stomach was behaving. When I started to come out of the depression and eat regularily again my stomach problems flared up again.
So, I'm finally going to see a GI doc to try and get an official diagnosis and hopefully some help ... but I'm enjoying learning about all the things I can do myself from this site!
As for my non-medical information, I'm almost 22, in my second year of University (had to take a few breaks along the way) and I work for a bank doing telephone banking. I live with my boyfriend of 5 years who has been incredibly good to me for whom I'm very grateful.
