Actually, I got interested in chocolate-making last year when I was home sick with IBS. I was home for the cooking channel's "Chocolate Obsession" week and fell in love with the idea of making chocolate sculptures. (OK, the crush on Jaques Torres motivated me to keep watching. But do I like him 'cause he's a dork or 'cause he makes chocolate!? I'll have to mull that over a bit!) Watched it the whole week, and when I was better got some books and taught myself a little.

I'll be selling it soon on TheChocolateoftheMonth.com, a business I'm starting with 2 friends. They're taking care of the pesky money/ordering/shipping/business side, and I'm "The Talent." We're just finalizing some things, so the site should be up and running soon. In fact, last weekend I made a bunch of chocolates so I could take pictures of it for the site.

As for the tasting.... I don't care for milk chocolate or white chocolate, so no biggie there. I can tolerate a little dark chocolate after some solubles. I don't tolerate gluten, so I'm not tempted by the chocolate-covered grahams or fortune cookies, or pretzels. I have been known to eat more than my share of chocolate covered strawberries and raspberries, though! Those are my weakness. HEY! They're healthy, right... berries.....?? (I'm only kidding myself, huh?!)

I figure once I've been making it awhile, I won't be as tempted. I used to work in a bakery (Time to make the donuts!), and didn't eat donuts for years afterwards!

I'm hoping to leave my crappy phone company job soon and do chocolates full-time. And eventually would like to go to culinary school and learn how to make those sculptures... Watch out, Jaques! (for more than one reason!)
