Americanism and Canadianism       03/06/04 06:57 PM Edit Reply Quote Bevvy Reged: 11/04/03 Posts: 5918 Loc: Northwest Washington State What do you Brits call the big piece of upholstered furniture in your living room that everyone sits on to watch TV? Hubby's mother was French Canadian, and she always called it a Chesterfield. I didn't understand what she was talking about, because in the U.S. a Chesterfield is a cigarette. Here we call them couches or sofas. What do you call them in Australia?
