Oils are best if flax, olive, hemp, canola, safflower and others probably, but more saturated oils are not so good for us like in egg yolks, coconut, dairy, protein fats (eat lean protein-no red meat);Oil in fish is good, though I have to drain the "too much" off the canned salmon. It's explained best in the book "The First Year: IBS" for purchase on this website to really see how foods affect us. Alot of the recipes posted by members unfortunately are not ok, even though it is requested that they be IBS safe. Heather's recipes and info are appropriate; Can search hers. Around 20-25% of calories in meals should be in fat, go light at breakfast; It's a vulnerable time of day for IBS. Fat should not be consumed without first eating the soluble fiber based food in the meal mainly, especially if fat is a trigger for you. For instance, I eat low saturated fat kind of cookies like made from canola..and the rest of the oil not already in my proteins, at the end of my meals (to keep my weight up), because I'm soo sensitive sometimes. Manufacturers have uncontrollable, changing ingredients one has to consider. The book mentioned has vital info, menus and recipes too to give you an idea how it works together. Stick mainly with Heather's direct book and excerpts advice to start, newletters and posts...I might get things wrong..
