Hi Tony, and welcome

You're welcome to vent. The living room is generally for non-IBS topics. Most vent in the diet board if it is IBS related.

Sounds like you are trying to do a lot of things to deal with you suspected IBS C.

Speaking from experience, getting IBS under control takes a lot of time. A year to get stable would have been a dream come true! For me it was more like 2.5 years this time around - yes, you can go from perfectly fine to utter agony with IBS from time to time. Been there, done that a couple times

It's not just about finding the one thing which works for you but finding the balance of everything which together work for you. For me it was hypnosis - 3 times - so that took over a year. Diet - HUGE for me. It took me years in my teens to eliminate my trigger foods and then after 5 or 6 years stable I had to start it all over again. I kept a food diary for 3 or more years. I know my triggers now are fats, caffeine, dairy, and portion size. Yes, even portion size can affect your tum. Like Heather's books say, eat small meals more frequently and snacks in between. I haven't tried the Acacia fibre only because of where I live - difficult to get it shipped here at the time I needed it the most. (Now she has Canadian distributors though.) I've just started seeing a dr. of Chinese medicine who is also going to address my GI tract along with the other issues I'm seeing her for. Hoping it'll help - afterall, she asked me if I had tummy troubles - she could find it in my pulse!! (How cool is that!) Plus yoga and breathing techniques, trying to stay unstressed... as much as possible anyway. My whole lifestyle is very different from what I imagined it would be as a younger adult... but it's working for me. And I'm getting healthier day by day (I also had brain surgery 8 months ago... I've been through a lot!)

If I can make a suggestion, be patient. I know how hard it is. I've been unstable most of my adult life. The days which are good are a blessing. And I'm more stable now than not, but I can still have bad days for seemingly no reason.... where was I?? Be patient. Figuring out what works for you will take time and lots of it. Also, you need a proper diagnosis to rule out anything else and identify it is indeed IBS. Don't give up on things like hypnosis - like I said 3 times through for me. And keep trying the Acacia - it's not an instant fix either. Heather took years developing the diet and her products, she didn't find the solutions overnight, so you probably will not find what works overnight...

Good luck!!!
