Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Long time no see!!! Update...

Wow, it's been awhile since I've posted here. Thought I'd let you know what's been going on. Not much, to be honest. My daughter turns 1 year old in about two weeks - SO hard to believe!!! I'm so proud of us that we're still breastfeeding; one of my greatest accomplishments. Especially with all the crap we've been through. In July/August, we went through our first round of thrush. Once we started our meds, the pain (I felt like someone was stabbing me in the breast every time I nursed) was gone within a few days. We kept up treatment for several weeks, and then were symptom free for several months. Around October, I felt the pain returning. Thrush again. This time the meds weren't so quick - the yeast was more resistant. I tried EVERYTHING. Even antibiotics, which just made things worse. One day last week at work, I literally pumped pink milk because I was so dry and cracked.... This has been one of the most painful, frustrating ordeals I have been through. We're still not totally over it, but at least the pain has lessened. People keep asking why I don't quit, or how much longer I'm going to do this. Well, only a mother who has breastfed can understand that one. I do it for my daughter; she is nowhere near ready to quit. And to be honest, neither am I. It's something I can give her that no one else can!

Hope you guys are all doing well! I really need to check back in here more often, but as you can imagine, the last few months have been rather hellish for me.
