I think if you can release gas (toot!) that's a good thing and not necessarily a problem unless you are in a crowd.

Some foods for some people (supposedly depending on blood type) can take 18-24 hours to fully digest. One of these is red meat for people like myself. Once it finally makes it's way to my descending colon, I dump it promptly and urgently. It could be that what upset your tummy wasn't necessarily about what you had eaten in the last few hours. It might have been a combination of things in your gut for a couple of days.

Bummer! No red meat for me, though I can seemingly tolerate pork white meat in small quantities if the fat has been removed and it is slow cooked (not fried). I eat white rice on the side with this.

Slow cookers and rice cookers are Godsends for IBS sufferers, and we really don't have to purchase expensive nor fancy ones either! Basic ones work just fine.
