I stumbled upon this website about 5 years ago when I was at my witts end with my IBS-D. I tried the fiber and mint but nothing helped. I was so miserable and went to see a GI doc who did a sigmoidoscopy and said I was fine and it was IBS, get some fiber! Long story short, I ended up with a hysterectomy at age 34 for female reasons but hopeful that it would somehow solve my digestive issues too. Prior to that, I had been taking extremely large doses of ibuprofen for pain. Doctor after doctor and no answers for my digestive issues. I gave up dairy for 2 weeks at the urgence of an internist. That helped but didn't completely solve all my problems. I continued to give up foods trying to find the triggers. I have been soy free since my daughter was born because it upset her stomach and mine. I have concluded that dairy, soy, and onions are serious triggers. Chocolate to a lesser extent. I read book after book and website after website and started taking a really strong probiotic, B12(because I was low), and L-Glutamine. I am feeling better today than I have in years. I think the ibuprofen completely destroyed my digestive tract. I am very cautious about what I eat these days. We even took meals to the beach so I wouldn't have to eat out. The best part, I didn't have to spend one day wallowing on the couch at the beach! I didn't panic walking down the beach wondering where I would have to run for the bathroom. I have been able to go out and go shopping, run errands, go to the nature center with my girls. I thank God for sending me in the right direction because the doctors have been very little help. They all wanted to put me on antidepressants! As an added bonus, my fingernails and hair have started growing, my skin looks better, and I'm finally gaining a bit of weight!!! I just wanted to let everyone know not to give up hope. Hang in there:-)
