Hi AlbanyGirl,

I would read this great link on whole wheat from our website http://www.helpforibs.com/diet/faq.asp#wheat. This will really help clear the air for you. When reading a food label it's important to understand what terms mean what. Whole wheat means that the bran, germ and endosperm are still intact. If the label only reads wheat flour or enriched wheat flour, the bran has been removed and is just the soluble fiber portion. The refined grain is more tolerable than whole wheat. However, there are plenty of whole grains that are mostly soluble fiber and safe to eat. I would print up the cheat sheet to help clarify the insoluble/soluble fiber foods. http://www.helpforibs.com/diet/cheatsheet.asp.
