Hi, and welcome! There are many people here that will be glad to help you.

Ok, so I'm not a doctor, but the pain you have, sounds exactly what I experience most days of the week. When I sit down, it hurts, and when I stand up, it feels like something is ripping my intestines open or stabbing them, or something. It's very excrutiating, and I get very bloated and gassy as well. My waist is normally 27 inches. When I get bloated, it increases to about a 34 inch waist line (talk about fun!) I am not pregnant or fat, I just have IBS.

What you have, to me, sounds like IBS. HOWEVER, you still need to let your doc run as many tests as possible to rule out any other possibilities. It doesn't sound like cancer to me, either. You don't need to stress over that, because it will only make it worse. Stress can cause ALOT of pain in the abdomen, believe me, I know, stress is my main trigger. Have you tried following Heather's diet to a "T" for a couple of weeks? It realy helped me and many other members of this website.

Have you tried increasing your soluble fiber intake?
What kind of foods do you eat?
What kind of beverages do you drink?

I find that my IBS isn't always caused by what I'm eating right now, but it's usually caused by something I ate yesterday or the day before. This makes it hard to rule out the culprit, but I can usually tell what it is if I've eaten something different. With greasy/fatty foods, however, I get an attack, almost, immediately, so I've had to cut them out completely. But, everyone on here is different, so you need to find something that helps YOU individually.

I would suggest trying the diet for a few days, it won't hurt you even if you are not diagnosed with IBS yet. It might actually help you. It's very bland for a couple of days, but after that, you can start eating healthy again. That's one of the main things I like about this eating regimen, it's very healthy, even if you can't have some of the things you love. (Milk, Ice Cream, Steaks, Cheese ) I eat a lot of oatmeal, fruits and vegetables, and sweet potatoes and squash, and fish. There's more too, but it's a long list. You can get all of your vital nutrients from the safe foods.

If you need some more food stuff examples, you can find great tips and advice all over this website. Try the peppermint and fennel teas, they are good and good for your tummy.
