Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

Hi guys im new to the site but i have had ibs for 9 years, after i got my first encounter with depression. I have just moved to Europe from Africa for two years of college but in the 1 month that i have been here my stomach has swung out of control and worse still it now has a soundtrack to go with the drama. The noises are really loud and very embarassing coz they sound like im farting. I have started avoiding to attend class coz of the noise and the nicknames i think im getting e.g the black girl from Africa who farts. This is the one opportunity i have been given and now im so low im thinking of going back to Africa. I took a cleansing laxative before i left home because i had been feeling very gassy but there was no noise then.The last four months had also been really stressful because of my travel preparations. I had a flu when i got here and from then on its been the Sydney Opera House for me!Im not sure anymore what is causing it.

Does anyone of have any suggestions for me? Will the noises end? Two years in a foreign country with an embarassing name tag isnt really looking attractive to me right now.The pain and cramps i had learnt to get used to and manage but this is bewildering. I really need help. I am 24 and hoping to get me a good man and settle down but how do you find a man when you have a wayward stomach? My other problem is in trying to get the different treatments for IBS gas advised on this site. I am in Denmark and trying to translate to the Pharmacists is proving to be a nightmare.

I am so grateful for this site because its really helping me with my homesickness and misery! I just need someone to tell me this wont be forever.Thanks for listening.
