As weird as it may seem, I am an IBS-D prone and I noticed that when I stopped drinking coffee, my bowel movements seemed to come to a standstill for a few days. It was really incredible to think that it had that much effect on me!

My advice in getting through it is: 1- Kick the coffee and stay off the coffee!! So much easier said that done. I am 27 and had been drinking the stuff since I was probably 4. Can we say addicted? 2- Drink plenty of water. 3- Eat safely and try to incorporate as much SFS in your food as possible. 4- Increase your exercise.

In a few days to a week, your body will adjust and you will probably be able to have BMs without the coffee. I substituted with herbal tea (chamomile and peppermint are my favorites) and Teeccino, which is darker and more full-bodied so it's kind of like having your morning coffee, only healthier. It also has inulin so it promotes regularity.

Not much else to say, except as in all things IBS related, patience is key.
