Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Car accident and now ibs too

I was in a moderately bad accident yesterday. Totaled my car but we all walked away from it shaken but not hurt. I spent the whole day moping around in my pj's and now feel like crap this evening. WHy is it that I always fall apart after a stressful event like this? Its funny. I'm able to get through things moderately well, but then when I know I'm safe, etc. I fall apart physically. Right now I'm queasy and have d and keep heading for the bathroom. Blah. I actually am thinking right now, that as I was eating dinner, I was listening to my wife in the other room telling her brother the story of the accident on the phone. I think that must have gotten me all tensed up while I ate.

Also, so disappointed that even in the middle of major stress - sitting in the back of the police car waiting for the tow truck - I managed to be phobic too, wondering if either of them might be contagious with a stomach virus!
I couldn't believe my brain was taking me in that direction at that moment when I had so much more to worry about.
Anyway, even while feeling like crap I'm thankful that I'm here after spinning 360 degrees on the highway.
