Especially since I never eat anything at those parties - but you can only come up with so many excuses why you're not eating to tell people. To avoid having to answer to people, I offer to help out with anything that will keep me busy: serving food, setting up, cleaning up, etc. Or I just claim I got over a nasty bug or food poisoning.
