Though luckily it's been ages since it was bad enough for me to feel that way. And I hope I'll never have to feel that way again. I'm struggling to get back to work - am on 50 % sick leave and working from home most of the time but want to get back to work. As for doctors who don't know what they're talking about and who act like complete idiots and who gladly take your money only to do absolutely nothing for you - I've been there too. I haven't even got to see a GI specialist yet (with the exception of the one who did the colonoscopy and he only did the test and then left me before I could ask him anything) and all they say is that they just don't have resources for IBS patients. Well they haven't done anything to educate the GPs either so I'm trying the best I can to educate mine myself which isn't easy. Try to hang in there!
