A really good book I read this year was "extremely loud and incredibly close" by Jonathan Safran Foer. Also the saddest book I've read in a while. He also wrote "everything is illuminated" which was an amazing novel. I just finished "the birth of venus" by ?? this summer which was a good period novel set in 15th century Italy.
