I have other health problems, but right now I am in terrible pain- I was so glad to read Heather's description of the pain- I was so scared- I thought I was going to die from an ovarian cyst rupturing or something of the like. I am only able to sit and type because I took some tramadol. I have not been able to eat, then I get so weak- what happened was in 1982 I was in 2 bad car accidents and had head injuries in both- a concussion and complete amnesia for 5 days from the second accident. After that I just had all sorts of weird symptoms- I went to doctors- to make a long story as short as possible- I started having migraines in 1997 and was referred to a neurologist who actually listened to me as the long line of doctors I had seen over 17 years just seemed to think it was "stress" (isn't that always a lovely cop-out!) or you name it. Anyway- this neurologist told me I most likely had temporal lobe epilepsy and when he put me on two anti convulsants(Lamictal and Topamax) I did much, much better. I was also taking Klonopin and ativan(but not always) I was with him 5 and one half years then he left and went ot Vermont and I was put on disability for epilepsy and panic disorder. That is when everything really went wrong. When you are on Medicaid you have to have one general practitioner and you can only go to that one doctor- if you need to go another doctor- like a gynocologist you have to get a referral from your GP- worst yet- if your GP thinks you don't need to go- say he doesn't think you have a problem with your menstrual cycle- he doesn't have to send you- he doesn't have to send you anywhere if he doesn't want to. So you can have one doctor that sends you here and there and nobody keeps in touch with each other, etc. Well, I got ahold of this hateful doctor who refused to refill my Klonopin and Ativan after she said she would and I knew you were not supposed to that- just stop it- so I went to the ER and the dumb DR there gave me 8 pills of Klonopin to "ween" myself with. 4 days later I started to go into withdrawal and eventually had 45 convulsive seizures in the night and finally I called the ambulance in the morning because the seizures were coming so fast and hard, I was about to fall off the couch. I had 7 seizures in 5 minutes in the ambulance- they had to pull over for advanced life support because I stopped breathing 5 times. Up to that point, I had never had a convulsive seizure in my life- you do not have convulsions with temporal lobe epilepsy- it's more sensations and feelings- no muscle control is involved-after all that I just didn't feel right- I became more and more tired and although I had had stomach problems since the accidents- I started to get extremely nauseated and could not get up for days at a time unless I felt like I would pass out or throw up. SOOOO... the doctor(s) put me on Phenergan, Reglan, and Clindinium. I was on them for vaious amounts of time and, I was told, for varios reasons- what I was not told was that they are all in the same class of drugs- should never have been all taken together like that and should not be taken with anti-convulsants.How can these doctors not know these things? It's right on the print out I get from the pharmacy! So- one day I got really stiff- my toes were pointed- my arms were up and out like a mannequin and my mouth looked puckered like a fish. I was completely "numb" all over(I had already been to the ER 4 days earlier because I was so nauseus I couldn't move and had been given a shot of Phenergan) Well this time when I got stiff They said it was A migraine(which it had turned into) and they gave me a "cocktail shot" which had Reglan in it. I came home and the next day my head started bobbing and then I started having horrible spasma in my neck and
back just awful twisting and pulling- excruciating-which eventually made it's way to my lower left side and I could feel my insides having spasms. That was 7 weeks ago- now my stomach is having a flare up of IBS which I was dx'd with before but this feels like my guts are going to fall out.It just gurgles and I'll run to the bathroom and have an (excuse me) explosive type of gas thing with some soft stool or I will just have excruciating pain and very soft stools that just burn like acid.I can feel my insides tremble when I take a tramadol and the pain lets up. I have just been able to lie on the couch and moan, honestly. Have any of you ever had these medications and had any similar reactions? This does not seem like it is going away. The muscles in my neck and back are still sore from the spasms. Can you believe my neuro said it was anxiety that caused the spasms even though it's listed right on the sheet as a side effect? My anxiety was better than it has been in years. What can I do? These medicines have wrecked my stomach. Is it possible they could have done permanent damage? Don't tell me to ask my doctors- they just stare right through you like you're not even there. Sorry for the long post- but long story. Thanks.
