Saw my physical therapist this morning.... he used an ultra sound machine on my hamstrings and then rubbed the crap out of them...LOL I feel SO much better.... I told him about my feet and the pain I've been having.... he said it is...Plantar Fasciitis
Quote:
Plantar Fasciitis When your first few steps out of bed in the morning cause severe pain in the heel of your foot, you may have plantar fasciitis (fashee-EYE-tiss). It's an overuse injury affecting the sole or flexor surface (plantar) of the foot. A diagnosis of plantar fasciitis means you have inflamed the tough, fibrous band of tissue (fascia) connecting your heel bone to the base of your toes.
You're more likely to get the condition if you're a woman, if you're overweight, or if you have a job that requires a lot of walking or standing on hard surfaces. You're also at risk if you walk or run for exercise, especially if you have tight calf muscles that limit how far you can flex your ankles. People with very flat feet or very high arches are also more prone to plantar fasciitis.
The condition starts gradually with mild pain at the heel bone often referred to as a stone bruise. You're more likely to feel it after (not during) exercise. The pain classically occurs again after arising from a midday lunch break.
If you don't treat plantar fasciitis, it may become a chronic condition. You may not be able to keep up your level of activity and you may also develop symptoms of foot, knee, hip and back problems because of the way plantar fasciitis changes the way you walk.
Treatments per my PT: Yoga strap for stretching the hamstrings.... 2 tennis balls, he showed me how to roll around on them while sitting. He said to go to the pet store and buy some in bulk...they are cheap (I'm not playing tennis with them..LOL)... 2 for at work, 2 for the living room, 2 for the bedroom.... will use them BEFORE I put any weight on them in the morning.... will use at work after lunch at my desk, will use after dinner in the living room, followed by placing my feet on ice packs for 15 mins in the evening only. I see him again on Friday....
He really thinks the reason my hamstring problem "returned" is because I'm not walking right due to the pain in my feet...makes sense to me! I really like this guy...he seems to know his stuff AND he knew the surgeon that just did Shane's elbow!
So, as far as the falling asleep... I'm HOPING that is just because I have not been able to sleep at night due to the pain.... Hopefully I will feel better by weeks end.
But I will still call and let my DR know about the night sweats and being light headed.
