You might remember we had the same problem a while back - well, we've completely solved it! Yay!

We have put ant powder down all the way round the outside of the house, which will kill them and they hate the smell of it. However, some do get through (ran or wind can move it, and create a pathway for them), so we've added a line of defence in the house where they were coming through the fireplace - cinammon! Seriously, they will not go anywhere near it, and will NEVER cross it!

We've been absolutely stunned by it, it's so funny to watch them come through, nearly reach the cinnamon and then turn straight round and go back outside. In a recent scientific test ants were dumped in the middle of a ring of various things that they are supposed to not cross, including ant powder and pepper - th eonly one they would not cross to leave the ring was cinammon.

And of course it's child-safe, non-toxic, doesn't harm your carpet and even smells nice! But yes, there's a downside - we have a pale beige carpet, and of course cinammon doesn't look great sprinkled on it. However, ours come in through the fireplace by the couch, so you don't really see it, and even if you did we'd leave it there as it's doing such an amazing job - we've not had a single one since we found the 2 places they were coming in and put cinammon down round them. And previous to that I was killing about 20 every ten minutes!!
