Just be careful, though -- we do have a few no-kill shelters around here, but most of them still put unwanted animals to sleep, and it is very easy to get attached to animals and then get traumatized when they're put down. Our shelters do accept under-age volunteers, and no matter how old or young the volunteers are, they usually do what's immediately needed -- and that's the everyday mundane icky tasks like cleaning cages or litterboxes. So don't feel bad if that's what you end up doing. You're still helping.
